This year’s EPMPOA Code 3 Comedy Show will benefit the Ernie Gomez Relief Fund.
The fund provides vital financial assistance to police officers facing medical expenses and unexpected hardships. The fund honors Ernesto “Ernie” Gomez (Badge #673, ID #135), who joined the El Paso Police Department in 1964.
In 1987, Ernie was diagnosed with cancer. During his illness, fellow officers came together and “passed the hat,” raising money to help with his medical treatments and related costs. After his passing, the EPMPOA created the fund in his name to keep his legacy of support and brotherhood alive by helping members in need.
